Self Help Tax Program Feb 1 - April 11
A new self-help tax preparation program for all ages, Free Assisted Self-Service Tax (FAST) Preparation, will be offered at the Nanuet Library, 149 Church Street, Nanuet, during the 2012 tax filing season. The program is available Wednesdays, Feb 1 – April 11 from 10AM – 2PM.  Co-located with the traditional AARP Tax Aide tax program, FAST will offer free tax preparation for workers and working families with incomes up to $57,000 and those eligible for the Earned Income Credit.

The Historical Society of Rockland is sponsoring a daytrip to tour The New York Historical Society. Guests will take a private guided tour of the highlights of the museum, as well as a luncheon at Caffe Storico and other activities. Sterling Forest Gardens: Sunday, February 5th at 1 PM
Join Doc Bayne and relive the Sterling Forest Gardens that brought Sterling Forest to life. This presentation will be about 2 hours long and keep you amazed at what once attracted millions of people to Sterling Forest.

Guest Lecturer - Kenneth Lifshitz: Sunday, February 12th at 1PM
The author will be reading excerpts from his recently released book to be followed by a general discussion of the events leading up to the battle of Fort Montgomery October 6th, 1777 and the various personalities involved.

History of Sterling Forest: Sunday, February 19th at 1 PM
Doc Bayne will bring alive the history of Sterling Forest in a Power Point presentation. The presentation will pick up at the Ramapo Ore takeover of Sterling and continue to 2012. The lecture will be about one hour and after the lecture we will hike to some of the locations revealed in the talk.

The Historical Society of Rockland County proudly announces the return of the ever-popular annual exhibition:  The 36th Annual Miniature, Dollhouse & Art Exhibition.  The exhibition will showcase the work of miniature artists, fine artists, quilters and dollhouse creators!  The exhibition will be curated by Joanne Potanovic.
As this is a fund-raising exhibition, suggested admission will be $7.00 for adults and $3 for members,
seniors and children under 12 (children under 3 are free).  Please check our website often for events

A historic snapshot of the surrounding area formative to Edward Hopper’s early years.
Featuring objects, photographs and personalities of the late Victorian Era in
Orangetown. The spectacular light off of the Hudson River was to follow Hopper
throughout his creative life as he developed his particular aesthetic and came
to be known as the most American of painters.

Nyack Toastmasters provides a fun, low-pressure environment where adults
can enhance their communication and presentation skills. Members build their
confidence by practicing before an audience of friendly and supportive peers.
Toastmasters learn by doing, polishing their own skills by helping others to
improve as well.  Nyack Toastmasters meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays
at 7:00 to 8:30PM in the Nyack Library, 59 South Broadway in Nyack.

The Association for the Visually Impaired is seeking volunteers to assist blind and visually impaired clients residing in Rockland County. Activities include providing
transportation, grocery shopping, reading mail, or companionship.

HANDS (Healing And Nurturing Distraught Survivors), 9 Scott Dr.
in New City, sponsors a free bereavement support group for
parents who lost a child. It meets on the 1st Wednesday and 3rd
Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8pm. There are also 10 week group
sessions available for the newly bereaved. Also, a Grieving Fathers Group
is now established for fathers who lost their sons. Call 634-6706 for further
information. Finally, a Widows and Widowers Group has also been established,
