June 27, 2009 - Cornetta's Restaurant - Piermont, NY Free Zuppi Di Mussels and Friday Night is Lobster Night with awesome Hudson River Dining!  Yesterday (Friday, June 26th) evening, a friend and I decided to head down to Piermont for dinner.  We wanted to dine along the Hudson, but didn't have a specific restaurant in mind.  As we drove down to Piermont, my friend mentioned that Cornetta's has FREE Zuppi Di Mussels with their Salad Bar! I haven't had Zuppi Di Mussels in a couple years, so I was sold.  We got to Cornettas around 5:30 pm, before the rest of the dinner crowd arrived.  The salad bar had just been put out, everything was fresh and delicious...and don't you know, a big bowl of tender and delicious Zuppi Di Mussels in Marinara Sauce showed up on our table!  To die for!  And...don't you know, we asked for ANOTHER BOWL and got it!  (Okay, so I havent had Zuppi Di Mussels in a few years and these were so good and so tender and went down so easy...we just pigged out!).  Not to mention that the salad bar is out of this world...   Click here to read the rest of the review!

July 2, 2009 - Pie Man Cottage, Valley Cottage, NY - Not anything like the Original Pie Man -  I used to live in Valley Cottage.  The "Original Pie Man" Restaurant on Route 303 was always a favorite destination for family and friends---even after I moved to another part of Rockland.  Their popular "secret" pizza pie recipe was to die for.  The crust was thin, but never floppy, the cheese mixture was unique, the sauce was great and they always gave a generous helping of toppings requested.  A couple months ago the Pie Man closed.  On the day it was closing, we actually ordered a pie by phone and drove down to pick it up.  When we got there we were told that we just purchased the LAST PIE to be made in the original restaurant!  We savored every bite.
Nanuet Restaurant in Nanuet (not Hotel), has a pizza that is similar to the REAL Original Pie Man, and wonderful in it's own right that we often enjoy, so we atleast have a fall back!  (And we met a lot of other Pie Man addicts at Nanuet Restaurants!) Anyway, we recently heard that the Pie Man was renovated and reopened!  So, last night we headed down there... Click here to read the rest of the review!

July 5, 2009 - ColdSpring, NY - Headed up to Cold Spring on Sunday for what was supposed to be a "Riverfest" with art, antiques, etc. Not a festival! Nothing but a flea-market with a $4 admission fee that wasn't listed in their ads or flyers.  Heard lots of complaints. This was NOT a festival by any stretch of the imagination.  When you think of a festival, you think of music, wine tastings, food tastings, arts and crafts, antiques and such.  This was a boring flea market with the typical types of vendors with their jewelry and antiques, clothing, etc. Nice flea market, but not a festival. And certainly not worth a $4 admission per person, especially when you can walk down Main Street in Cold Spring and see all the same type of items..art, antiques, etc...in all the stores for FREE!   Redemption of the afternoon in Cold Spring came with lunch. If you want some of the BEST CRAB CAKES in the Hudson Valley, stop into Whistling Willies on Main and 9D. You won't be disappointed!
