Many businesses with websites think that because their website comes up when someone searches on their business name, that their website is now "optimized." Actually, that counts as very little in the real world of search engine optimization.
The key to "real optimization" is for your website to come up in the TOP TEN on "general" keyword phrases or searches, when people are SHOPPING for your product or service but don't have a specific business name in mind or don't even know that you exist.
For example: If someone is looking for a Beauty Spa or Day Spa in Rockland County, but they don't know the names of all the spas in Rockland, then they would do a search on Google for Beauty Spa, Rockland County, NY --- or Day Spa, Rockland County, NY ---the proof of successful optimization is for your business website to come up in the TOP TEN listings on all the major search engines.
There are many spas in Rockland County, but only onw spa website comes up on its own. The rest are part of directory sites. The spa that comes up on its own is BEAUTY SECRETS DAY SPA's website (that we designed and optimized for them) and video on the HUDSON VALLEY WEB TV website with #1 +#2 Rankings. Their own website now comes up #1 because WE DESIGNED IT and OPTIMIZED IT for them! Their listing and web page on the www.hvwebtv.net website comes up #2. Before we designed their website, their site didn't even show up on search engines.
